Metallyte™ / Metallized - Jindal Films

Metallyte™ metallized oriented polypropylene (OPP) films offer a high-performing, low-weight packaging solution for snacks, confections, dry foods and beverages that require a long shelf life.
Widely used in a variety of applications, including those that require modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), Metallyte films provide a significant barrier to moisture, light and oxygen. These films are extremely durable and resistant to puncture and flex cracking. Combining the inherent advantages of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) with the latest metallization technologies, Metallyte films provide strong, cost-effective product protection.

Ultra-high barrier films

Metallyte™ metallized oriented polypropylene (OPP) ultra-high barrier films are designed to provide optimum protection for oxygen- and moisture-sensitive products with long shelf-life requirements.

Metallyte UHB films offer a cost-effective and lighter-weight alternative to aluminum foil for products that typically use gas flushing (N2 or CO2) in modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) applications. Metallyte UHB also provides excellent resistance to barrier loss in extrusion lamination and coating processes.

Metallyte™ MM883 is designed for adhesive lamination in a three-layer structure.

Metallyte™ 28UBW-ES has vacuum-deposited aluminum, a white opaque PP core and an enhanced heat-sealable layer.  Its improved performance allows for simplified packaging structures.

  • High-puncture and flex-crack resistance previously unavailable in OPP films and very good protection from UV rays (UV barrier)
  • Increased barrier integrity vs. thin aluminum foil and threefold improvement in puncture resistance
  • Up to 3 – 4-fold seal strength improvement, compared to standard sealable coextruded polypropylene
  • Reduced packaging weight compared to aluminum foils; up to 30% depending on the foil packaging being replaced
